Samuele Chiaramello, PhD

Samuele Chiaramello took his first steps in the field of mind’s science obtaining a Ph.D. in neuroscience at Claude-Bernard University, Lyon (France), focusing his research on adult neuroplasticity. Passionate about the functioning of the mind, he then spent seven years studying Buddhist philosophy and psychology. The real turning point occurred, however, when he met his master and the intellectual understanding of mind training became grounded in first hand meditative experience. Inspired by his teacher and the words of H.H The Dalai Lama on the importance of dialogue between modern neuroscience and contemplative disciplines, he completed a specialization in interpersonal neurobiology with Dr. Daniel Siegel (Mindsight Institute, California). A certified instructor of Cultivating Emotional Balance (C.E.B., Santa Barbara Institute for Consciousness Studies, California) trained by B. Alan Wallace Ph.D. ed Eve Ekman Ph.D., he conducts workshops and individual coaching to promote well-being and flourishing.

Cultivating Emotional Balance

Cultivating Emotional Balance is a skill training program designed to help participants improve their emotional life by decreasing destructive emotional episodes and cultivating constructive emotional experiences.

The training consists of overarching conceptual knowledge and experiential exercises drawn from Western scientific research on emotions and Buddhist contemplative practices. Designed using evidence-based, practical, and secular strategies, research has shown that Cultivating Emotional Balance imparts emotional intelligence skills that can lead to wellbeing and fulfillment, finding ways to manage impulses and emotions, even in stressful situations.

The seminar will be an introduction to Cultivating Emotional Balance. A more comprehensive training will be held at the Neuroscience Institute Cavaleri Ottolenghi within the next few weeks.
