Professional Profile
Elena is a member of the NICO since 2015
Her research focuses on Human iPSC culture and differentiation in neuronal cells and brain organoids. In particular, she is the head of the hiPSC NICO facility.
She collaborates with various research groups for the culture and differentiation of hiPSCs, as well as for the identification and development of in vitro models for neurodegenerative diseases.
She has built experience in cell culture and in generation, culture and maturation of immune system cells, stem cells (hMSC, CD34) and generation and culture of primary cells.
She has built experience in execution in vitro and in vivo tests for immunological analysis (cytotoxic activity assay, ELISA, ELISPOT, flow cytometry).
She has gained experience in the molecular biology for identification of gene and allelic mutation (sequencing, real time PCR, RT-PCR).
Handling minimal products for hematopoietic stem cells and bone marrow transplantation in onco-hematological patients.
Drafting of cell immunotherapy projects, implementation and validation according to GMP standards.

Professional Profile
Roberta is a microscopy technician at PICO – Platform for Imaging at NICO.
She specializes in in vivo protocols, including rodent models of neurodegenerative diseases, stereotaxic surgery, and behavioral tests, as well as high-resolution imaging and electron microscopy. She collaborates with research groups to investigate CNS processes in physiological and pathological conditions, providing expertise in microscope maintenance, quality control, and user training. She also supports researchers in image acquisition strategies, sample preparation, and experimental design. Her background includes extensive experience in electron microscopy and high-resolution imaging applied to neurobiology.

Sri Satuti is the Technical Manager of the Animal Care Facility at NICO.
She has many years of experience in the handling and care of animals for experimental use and actively collaborates with the NICO research groups in the planning and execution of in “vivo” experiments.
She takes care of the technical management of the “Animal Care Facility”; collaborates with the Animal Welfare Managers and with the Designated Veterinarian to monitor the functioning of the animal facility according to current regulations.
