NMDA receptors containing GluN3A subunits influence myelination during development and after injury

NMDA receptors containing GluN3A subunits (GluN3A-NMDARs) are emerging as key players in the experience-dependent refinement and consolidation of neuronal circuits over critical periods of postnatal development.

However, a previously unexplored effect on myelination has been recently found opening new perspectives on the glutamatergic signalling between neurons and oligodendrocytes.
