The first edition of the School proposed by the director of NICO - University of Turin prof. Alessandro Vercelli - with the support of prof. Marina Boido and Serena Stanga - has successfully concluded with the participation of 16 PhD students and postdocs from European - in Germany, Spain, Portugal, Ukraine, Poland and Italy - and Indian research institutes.
The course trained the attendes on how to write a successful grant application and a good CV to help them starting a career in neuroscience.
The course, realized thanks to the support of IBRO-PERC Support for Soft Skills Training , was held online from November 29 to December 4, 2021.

Sonal Jhaveri, PhD
Science Program Director at Dana Farber Cancer Institute
Dr. Jhaveri is an MIT alumna (BS, MS). She received her PhD from Harvard University, has been Principal Investigator on a number of grants from NIH, NSF and other private foundations, has co-authored 60 professional articles, and has consulted on a number of science and medical writing projects. She teaches Science Communication and Language Skills to graduate and medical students, as well as to postdocs at MIT and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Dr. Lucia Salto is Project Coordinator Career Development Facilitator for PhDs at the University of Torino and she has more than 20 years of experience in organizing soft skills training workshops and events for doctoral students and promoting doctoral careers. Dr. Salto provides personal advice and support to outgoing and incoming PhD students, assistance and guidance for the next professional steps (Career Development and Career Transition), she manages International cooperation with partner institutions and European Recruiters of PhDs and candidate application process.

Hanna Dumanska - Postdoc fellow at Bogomoletz Institute of Physiology, National Academy of Science of Ukraine, Kiev - was chosen by the two teachers as the winner of the 500 euro grant “ for having worked hard at the workshop and contributed a lot to the class discussion” .
